Todd Louie – Partner, Quantum Tax Law
Todd has over 30 years of experience as a tax practitioner and is a Partner at Quantum Tax Law. Todd is well known across Canada as an educator in the tax community. He has lectured extensively to hundreds of accountants and lawyers in various jurisdictions across Canada. Todd has also authored numerous articles on Canadian Taxation. In addition to Todd’s duties as Partner, he directs a team of lawyers, accountants and tax consultants who provide corporate reorganization strategies to business owners. These strategies include but are not limited to Estate Freezes, Butterfly Transactions, Trusts and Estate Planning. Todd personally provides ongoing tax advice to accounting firms and business owners. He is also directly involved in tax dispute resolution.
Lorne H. Saltman – Counsel, Quantum Tax Law
In addition to working with Quantum Tax Law, Lorne is head of the Tax Group at Gardiner Roberts. He has had wide experience in diverse areas of tax practice, including in-depth experience on both the international and domestic levels involving corporate tax planning, corporate mergers and acquisitions, cross-border financing, captive insurance companies, wealth preservation for high net worth clients, estate freezes, real estate ventures, and the establishment of trusts and foundations. Lorne has a successful track record in resolving disputes with tax authorities at both the federal and provincial levels, including some experience in tax litigation.
Lorne has been an instructor in the Taxation Section of the Bar Admission Course for the Law Society of Ontario. He is the Canadian contributor to the book “International Taxation of Electronic Commerce”, published by Kluwer Law International. Lorne is a frequent speaker at professional development courses for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association and other continuing education institutions.
Harvey Consky – Partner, Quantum Tax Law
Harvey Consky, B,Sc., J.D., earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and obtained his law degree from the University of Western Ontario. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1982. Over the years Harvey has practiced in personal injury, commercial and tax litigation. In 1997, he founded the firm Consky & Associates. As a partner in Quantum Tax Law, Harvey has acted on hundreds of tax appeals to the Federal Court of Appeal on Scientific Research and Experimental Development Claim Appeals (SR&ED). He has become a prominent figure in the Ontario legal community, earning a reputation among clients and colleagues for integrity and professionalism. Harvey has argued cases at all levels of the court system, including the Ontario Court of Appeal. Harvey continues to act as counsel on SR&ED matters before the Tax Court of Canada.
